Master’s Discussion
The College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis
(Finite Difference Approximations of One-Dimensional Semilinear Diffusion Equations with Blow-up Solutions)
by a student (Farah Amer Aored)
Objectives of the Thesis
- This thesis aimed to Computing the numerical blow-up solutions and estimating the blow-up times for some numerical experiments, by using Crank-Nicolson finite difference methods, using non-fixed time-stepping formulas, and confirming some of the known theoretical blow-up results by computing the numerical solutions.
Content of the Thesis
The thesis also included Carrying out the numerical simulation for the discrete graphs of the considered problems, and conducting a computational comparison between the proposed numerical methods and the previously studied Crank–Nicolson (C.N.) methods in terms of numerical blow-up times, error bounds, orders of convergence and CPU times.
Final Grade of the Thesis
Excellent
