Master’s Discussion
College of Science for Women / University of Baghdad examined the thesis/ dissertation entitled )A Comparative Study of Secondary Metabolites and Gene Expression in Different Cultivars of Medicago sativa L. in Iraq( submitted by the student Izdehar Yahia Obaid.
The thesis aims to extract, isolate, and determine phenolic acids, flavonoids, and alkaloids, in three M. sativa cultivars grown in Iraq, as well as to evaluate the expression levels of selected genes associated with the biosynthetic pathways of these compounds.
: The also includes extraction and isolation of secondary metabolites, quantitative and qualitative analysis of secondary metabolites using HPLC, and understanding of the relationship between gene expression levels and the accumulation of bioactive compounds among the studied cultivars.
The most important recommendations which the study has come up with and the average obtained.
- The most important recommendations which the study has come up with and the average obtained.
- Conduct further molecular studies on additional genes involved in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites in sativa cultivars.
- Investigate post-transcriptional and post-gene expression regulatory mechanisms to better understand the regulation and accumulation of secondary metabolites in sativa cultivars.Study the influence of environmental factors and cultivar variation on gene expression patterns and secondary metabolite production in M. sativa cultivar
