Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Computer Science Department, organized a training course entitled “The Internet of Things and Its Applications in Daily Life (IoT).” The course was presented by Dr. Ahmed Abdul-A’imma, Dr. Nima Anad, and Ms.Suad Ali Ubaid in the Abdul Hakim Hall, with the attendance of a number of faculty members and staff.

The course provided a comprehensive explanation of the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT), which refers to the interconnection of various devices and equipment through the Internet, enabling them to exchange data automatically without direct human intervention. It also highlighted the key requirements for implementing IoT systems, including communication networks, sensors, and intelligent software applications.

Furthermore, the course addressed the major applications of IoT in everyday life, such as its use in smart homes, healthcare services, smart city management, and transportation systems. These applications contribute significantly to improving operational efficiency, facilitating control and monitoring processes, and saving both time and effort.

The course also shed light on the primary benefits of IoT technology, including enhancing quality of life, increasing productivity, reducing operational costs, and supporting informed decision-making through the availability of real-time data. At the same time, participants were introduced to several challenges and limitations associated with IoT, particularly issues related to privacy and data protection, vulnerability to cyberattacks, and the continuous need for developing and upgrading technological infrastructure.

Special emphasis was placed on the security aspects of IoT systems. The presenters stressed the importance of adopting effective cybersecurity measures, such as data encryption, regular system updates, and the use of secure networks to safeguard information and prevent unauthorized access.

The course concluded by emphasizing the importance of keeping pace with technological advancements in the field of the Internet of Things and promoting digital awareness among individuals and institutions to maximize the benefits of this rapidly evolving technology. The event witnessed active engagement from the participants, and the organizers addressed and answered the questions raised throughout the training session.
