Master’s Discussion
: The College of Science for women at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entitled(Synthesis, Spectroscopic ,Characterization and Evaluation of the Biological activity of Some New Metal ions Complexes with Organic Ligand)
By the student:Ban Hasan Ali.
The study aimed to synthesize anew azo ligand and to prepare series of coordination complexes using salts of various metal ions with the synthesized azo dye.
Thermal analysis of synthesized complexes and the ligand was investigated using Thermogravimetric Analysis(TGA). Theantioxidant potential of the prepared compounds was evaluated using ascorbic acid as a reference standaed and DPPH as afree radical probe, followed by determination of the IC50 values. In addition, the biological activity of the synthesized compounds was examined for their antibacterial and antifungal properties.
The most important recommendations which the study has come up with and the average obtained:
- Synthesis of new complexes of the azo ligand eith lanthanide and actinide elements.
- Investigation of additional aspects of the biological activity of the prepared complexes against other fungal species and comparison with certain drugs possessing similar ring systems, in order to assess their potential pharmaceutical applications and possible utilization in drug development.
- Evaluation of the systhesized ligand and its complexes against various cancer cell lines, including breast, colon, prostate, and skin cancers.
