Master’s Discussion

College of science for women/University of Baghdad examined the thesis entitled (Design a Laser Interferometer Time Domain Optical Setup for Spectroscopy and Sensing Applications) of the student Hajer Abbas Fadhil

Objectives of the Thesis

The thesis aims to the transient absorbance change (ΔA) of Rhodamine 6G dye dissolved in methanol (10⁻⁶ M) and (dye solution and silver nanoparticles) was measured as a function of time delay. The measurements were carried out at time delays of (28, 29, 30, 32, and 34) ns and repetition frequencies of (50, 100, and 150) kHz using a pump-probe technique.

Content of the Thesis

The thesis also includes: Silver nanoparticles were synthesized using the laser ablation in liquid method by irradiating a silver target immersed in methanol. Three different preparation conditions were used, corresponding to 300, 600, and 900 number of laser pulses. The laser source was a pulsed Nd: YAG laser with a wavelength of 532 nm and laser flounce of . The produced silver nanoparticles were characterized using ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectrophotometer, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and dynamic light scattering (DLS)

recommendations

The most important recommendations which the study has come up with and the average obtained:

1- Change the type of sample used, such as using thin film.

2- Using more than one wavelength as pump pulse.

3- Use a shorter pulse width, on the order of nanoseconds or femtoseconds.

The final grade

The final grade:  Very Good (High).
