Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khidm, the Scientific Affairs Division, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, organized a workshop entitled “The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Microsoft Word for Source Identification.” The workshop was presented by  Dr. Muna Mansour, Ms. Iman Hadi, and Ms.Heba Awad, with the participation of a number of faculty members and students.

The workshop included a detailed scientific presentation on the concept of artificial intelligence and its growing role in the development of academic research tools. Particular emphasis was placed on how these technologies can be utilized within Microsoft Word to manage and organize references in a rigorous and systematic manner.

It also addressed the mechanisms for inserting citations using the program’s built-in tools, as well as methods for linking in-text citations with references in accordance with internationally recognized styles such as APA and MLA. In addition, the workshop demonstrated how to generate bibliographies automatically and accurately.

Furthermore, the workshop presented a number of practical applications illustrating how artificial intelligence technologies can facilitate the process of locating reliable academic sources online and organizing them within scholarly documents. Applied examples were also provided on writing research papers and reports using these modern tools.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of verifying the credibility of sources and selecting them carefully, alongside developing students’ digital competencies to enhance the quality of academic output and keep pace with rapid technological advancements in education and scientific research. The workshop concluded by highlighting the importance of developing students’ and researchers’ skills in the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in academic writing, given their vital role in supporting scientific research and improving the quality of scholarly studies.
