Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Sameera Naji Khdim , the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Computer Science, organized a workshop entitled “Balanced Nutrition and Physical Activity as Pillars for Promoting Sustainable Human Development.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Najaat Baqer Mashkoor.

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of adopting a balanced diet and engaging in regular physical activity as two fundamental pillars in building a healthy and intellectually sound individual, as well as their role in achieving sustainable human development at both the individual and societal levels. It included an explanation of the concept of balanced nutrition and its core components—proteins, carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals—along with an outline of the impact of healthy dietary habits in preventing chronic diseases and enhancing immune system efficiency.

The workshop also addressed the significance of physical activity in improving physical fitness and mental health, and its role in increasing students’ energy levels and productivity. It emphasized that investing in human health constitutes the cornerstone of any sustainable development process, and that early health awareness contributes to preparing a generation capable of meaningful contribution and active participation in serving society.

This workshop was part of a series of scientific activities aimed at disseminating health culture and enhancing awareness of the importance of healthy lifestyles within the university community.
