Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Science for Women organized a workshop entitled “From the Classroom to the Labor Market.”The workshop was presented by Dr. Shaimaa Saleh Mahdi and Dr. Solaf Abdul Khudair. This initiative reflects the College’s commitment to preparing its female students both academically and professionally in line with the requirements of the forthcoming phase, and to enhancing their readiness for effective and competent integration into the labor market.

The workshop aimed to highlight the key skills and requirements that students should possess to ensure a smooth transition from the university environment to professional life. It also elucidated the nature of the transformations taking place in the labor market and emphasized the importance of early preparedness. The presenters addressed several themes, including strategic career planning, mechanisms for preparing a professional curriculum vitae that accurately reflects skills and experiences, and techniques for successfully navigating job interviews with confidence and competence.

Furthermore, the workshop focused on developing soft skills that have become fundamental pillars in the contemporary workplace, such as effective communication, teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making, in addition to fostering self-confidence and building students’ professional identity. Practical examples and applied models were presented to demonstrate how theoretical knowledge acquired in classrooms can be transformed into employable practical experience across various sectors.

The workshop witnessed notable interaction from participants through discussions and questions that reflected their awareness of the importance of early preparation for professional life, as well as deliberation on the main challenges that graduates may face at the beginning of their careers and the appropriate ways to address them through awareness and planning. The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of empowering female students academically and professionally, and equipping them with the necessary tools and skills to meet labor market demands, thereby supporting their future career paths and enhancing their active role in society.
