Under the patronage and attendance of the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Raghd Al-Hashemi, the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Samira Naji Kazem, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Nadia Mohammed Jawad, and the Dean of the College of Excellence, Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Ali, Entrepreneurship Week activities were launched through cooperation between the College of Science for Women and the College of Excellence. The opening ceremony took place at the College of Excellence as part of the University of Baghdad’s efforts to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among its students.

The event was attended by several university officials, representatives from private sector companies, faculty members, employees, and students from both colleges, reflecting strong interest in this scientific and developmental initiative.

The ceremony included a documentary film highlighting the University of Baghdad’s history, scientific achievements, and pioneering role in keeping pace with scientific and technological developments locally and internationally. This was followed by a presentation introducing entrepreneurship, its importance for students and graduates, and its role in creating employment opportunities either through integration into the labor market or by launching entrepreneurial projects that support the national economy.

In his speech, the University President emphasized the importance of nurturing young people’s ideas and transforming them into practical projects, stressing the need to encourage students to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset and develop innovative solutions to real labor market challenges that contribute to sustainable development.

The Dean of the College of Science for Women expressed pride in organizing such joint activities, noting that supporting students’ ideas and preparing them academically and practically is a key priority for the college due to its role in building an aware and innovative generation.

The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs also delivered a speech discussing the concept of entrepreneurship, its historical development, and essential elements for successful projects such as creativity, sound planning, risk-taking, and teamwork. She emphasized that entrepreneurship is an effective tool for community service and development.

The week included specialized scientific lectures covering topics such as idea development, startup management, funding mechanisms, and building partnerships with the private sector to enhance students’ skills and prepare them for the business world. Lectures were delivered by Professor Dr. Nasser Diaa Shaalan from the Department of Chemistry, Assistant Professor Dr. Hiba Mohammed Fadel from the College of Excellence, and representatives from private sector companies focusing on entrepreneurship and youth investment.

The event also featured poster presentations of graduation projects by students of the College of Science for Women along with reputable scientific research.
