Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Samira Naji Kazem, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Legal Division, organized a workshop entitled “Crisis Management in Government Institutions.” The workshop was held in the college guest hall with the participation of several faculty members and employees. It was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Abbas Hadi Abd and Assistant Lecturer Abeer Mohammed Abbas.
The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of crisis management in government institutions as an integrated system that begins with prior preparedness, followed by informed and practical crisis handling, and ultimately addressing and mitigating its impacts in a way that protects institutions and society, builds trust, and enhances institutional stability.
The speakers indicated that crises may arise from multiple causes, most notably weak strategic planning, poor communication between departments, sudden changes in policies or surrounding conditions, as well as emergency incidents requiring rapid and effective response.
The workshop discussed effective crisis management methods, including developing proactive plans for potential crises, forming specialized and trained teams capable of making rapid decisions, improving internal and external communication channels to ensure swift response and minimize crisis impacts, and evaluating crises afterward to extract lessons learned and improve future performance.
The speakers emphasized the importance of such workshops in strengthening the ability of faculty and staff to face challenges and manage crises effectively, ensuring institutional continuity and achieving the college’s objectives efficiently.
This workshop is part of a series of training activities organized by the Continuing Education Unit to enhance administrative and technical skills among staff, contributing to institutional development and improving the work environment.
