In celebration of the commencement of the new academic year, the buildings of the University of Baghdad were adorned with the Iraqi flag, in a scene that reflects pride in national identity and the symbol of Iraqi sovereignty. The display also lends a distinctly patriotic character to the university’s corridors and facilities as it prepares to welcome a new academic year filled with academic and scientific achievement.
This initiative comes within the framework of implementing the directive of the Prime Minister, Mr. Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, addressed to all ministries, entities not affiliated with ministries, and governorates, concerning the replacement of Iraqi flags displayed above government institutions and their affiliated departments. The directive calls for the adoption of standardized and uniform flags in accordance with official specifications, with due attention to their quality and periodic replacement, befitting the status of the Iraqi flag as a symbol of sovereignty and national unity.
The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hassan Al-Zughaibi, emphasized that displaying the Iraqi flag on university buildings embodies pride in the nation and its symbols, and contributes to strengthening national values and fostering a sense of belonging among members of the university community. He noted that the University of Baghdad, in addition to its scientific and academic mission, plays an important role in shaping informed generations who take pride in their national identity.
