Dissertation Discussion
College of science for women/University of Baghdad examined the thesis/dissertation entitled (Design and Construction of Whispering Gallery Mode Micro-Resonators for Terahertz Frequencies Applications) of the student Farah Abdulkafi Lazim Al-Saed.
The dissertation aims to design and optimization of an optical micro resonator based on Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM) phenomena for applications within the terahertz frequency spectrum..
The thesis also includes a theoretical and experimental study on the design and fabrication of an optical biosensor based on Whispering Gallery Mode resonators operating in the terahertz frequency range, with an analysis of its spectral characteristics, quality factor, and sensitivity, as well as an investigation of the effect of resonator dimensions and optical fiber type on sensor performance, and a comparison between theoretical and experimental results to evaluate the sensor’s ability to detect minute changes in biological cells
The most important recommendations which the study has come up with and the average obtained.
The researcher recommends developing and utilizing Whispering Gallery Mode Resonators (WGMRs) operating at terahertz frequencies for sensing applications due to their high sensitivity.
The researcher recommends conducting future studies to improve the quality factor and enhance measurement accuracy.
The researcher recommends expanding the practical applications of the proposed system in medical and biological fields.
The dissertation was discussed and evaluated with an Excellent grade
