Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim , the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, organized an introductory seminar on the duties and functions of the Unit for first-year female students on Sunday, the 14th of the current month.
The seminar was presented by the Head of the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, Dr. Safa Sami, with the participation of the Educational Guidance Committee in the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Asmaa Mahdi, and committee member Dr. Sanaa Tareq. The event was held in the library hall of the Department of Biology .
The seminar commenced with an introduction to the vision, mission, and objectives of the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College, which aims to develop the capacities and skills of female students and graduates within their scientific specializations. This is intended to qualify them to compete effectively in the labor market and secure appropriate employment opportunities through a range of training and capacity-building programs, in addition to cooperation with public and private sector institutions to facilitate job opportunities.
The seminar also highlighted the importance of developing personal and professional skills, such as effective communication, résumé preparation, successful performance in job interviews, and teamwork. These skills contribute to enhancing students’ self-confidence and increasing their level of preparedness after graduation.
In conclusion, the floor was opened for discussion to address students’ questions and to provide the necessary guidance and advice, with emphasis on the role of the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit in supporting and following up with students throughout their academic journey and beyond, in line with the College’s objectives of preparing qualified scientific cadres capable of serving the community.
