Master’s Discussion
The College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis
(Some Generalizations of Extending Modules Relative to Pure closed and ๐ซ-essential Submodules)
by a student (Alaa Abdul Azeez Abdul Ameer).
This thesis has three aims, The first aim of this thesis is to develop pure closed submodules, introduced by Nada M. Al-Thani in 1997. A submodule ๐ฑ of an โ-module โณ is termed ๐ซ-essential if, for every pure submodule โ of โณ with ๐ฑโโ=0, then โ=0, and ๐ฑ is pure closed if ๐ฑ has no proper ๐ซ-essential extension in โณ.
Subsequently, the second aim of this thesis is to explore two new concepts: ๐ซ๐ข๐-extending and strongly ๐ซ๐ข๐-extending modules, using pure closed and ๐ซ-essential submodules. These concepts are generalizations of the extending module. A module โณ is named ๐ซ๐ข๐-extending if each pure closed submodule of โณ is a direct summand, and โณ is strongly ๐ซ๐ข๐-extending if each submodule of โณ is ๐ซ-essential in a direct summand.
In the third aim of this thesis, ๐ซ๐ข๐-extending and strongly ๐ซ๐ข๐-extending modules were extended to include two new generalizations: purely closed-extending and strongly purely closed-extending modules, respectively. An โ-module โณ is named purely closed-extending if each pure closed submodule of โณ is a pure submodule, and โณ is strongly purely closed-extending if each submodule is ๐ซ-essential in a pure submodule of โณ.
