Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim , the Department of Computer Science organized a welcoming ceremony for first-year students in the Conference Hall on Thursday morning, 11 December 2025. The event was attended by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Salah Khairy, in addition to a number of faculty members and students of the department.
The ceremony commenced with a blessed recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a speech delivered by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs. This was succeeded by the department’s address presented by Dr. Aboud Khuraibit, in which the new students were warmly welcomed and introduced to the academic journey of the department. The faculty members expressed their pleasure at the students’ joining the Computer Science Department, and the department’s academic staff were introduced to the students, beginning with the Head of the Department, Dr. Raja Mareeh. The speakers emphasized the importance of this specialization and its vital role in the advancement of applied sciences, encouraging the students to strive for excellence and perseverance.
The ceremony also featured an extensive presentation highlighting the significance of Computer Science as an interdisciplinary field that intersects with various domains, as well as its effective contributions to scientific research.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, attendees viewed an exhibition showcasing students’ works, which included artistic paintings and a variety of handicrafts. These works reflected the students’ talents and artistic creativity alongside their scientific skills, adding an aesthetic and pleasant dimension to the celebration.
This ceremony is part of a series of activities organized by the department to strengthen communication between students and faculty members and to foster a positive academic environment that contributes to a successful start to university life.
