Workshop on “The Risks of Drugs and Methods of Prevention” at the College of Science for Women

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Biology Sciences, organized a workshop entitled “Drugs and Methods of Prevention.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Salah Khairi in the department’s library hall, with the attendance of a number of faculty members, staff, and students.

During the workshop, Dr. Salah reviewed the risks associated with drug abuse and its health, psychological, and social consequences. He also analyzed the factors contributing to the spread of drug use among youth, including psychological pressures, negative peer influence, and limited societal awareness. Additionally, he addressed the legal dimensions related to drug use and trafficking, emphasizing the importance of promoting preventive awareness within the university community.

The workshop also discussed strategies for reducing the spread of drugs, most notably enhancing life skills among young people, supporting mental health, strengthening the role of families and educational institutions, and disseminating accurate information about the dangers of addiction and its impact on the future of individuals and society.

This workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals that focus on promoting good health and well-being, building safe and risk-free communities, and supporting the efforts of educational institutions in raising awareness and fostering preventive behaviors.
