Thesis Discussion
The College of Science for Women / University of Baghdad examined the dissertation entitled (Assement of physiological and histological effects of Boswellia carterii and Sengalia senegal Extracts on Induced Arthritis in male albinoRats) of the student (Basma Ali Jasim ), in Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor in Biology / Zoology.
The dissertation aims to evaluate the effect of extracts of Boswellia carterii and Sengalia senegal on the histological changes and physiological functions in male white rats.
This research study highlights the effect of the extracts of Boswellia carterii and Sengalia senegal and compares them with the drug methotrexate. Male white rats were used to detect histological and physiological changes thru the study of biochemical indicators and histological changes in the joint.
The current study showed that the plant extracts, gum arabic and frankincense, caused a significant improvement in biochemical readings, and their combined effect was superior to that of methotrexate alone. Histological sections of the joint also showed a decrease in inflammation markers and an improvement in tissue structure when the two extracts were used together. The results indicate that their combination may form a promising alternative or support for traditional treatment in cases of arthritis and enhance protection against inflammation.
