Thesis Discussion
The College of Science for women at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entitled(Comparative Study of Tumor Markers Level in Type II Diabetic Iraqi Women with and without Breast Cancer).
By the student: Israa Jabbar Mnahi
The thesis aims to evaluate several biomarkers in the sera of Iraqi women sample with T2DM with and without B.C by estimating the following parameters:CA15-3 and Ki67.Other parameters were also measured, such as HbA1c levels and lipid profiles in patients’ groups and control group.
This study, which was conducted at the University of Baghdad / College of Science for Women / Department of Chemistry and Al-Amal Center for Tumors, Medical City Hospital, in Baghdad / Iraq between 1 August to 20 September 2024. The levels of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and lipid profile were measured using the spectrophotometer technique, and the levels of of CA15-3 and Ki67 were measured using the technique of enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA) technique.
The most important recommendations reached by the thesis are:
- examine CA15-3 and Ki67 function in patients with type 2 diabetes as a routine procedure.
- 2. To examine the normal ranges of tumor markers in women with type 2 diabetes.
3.To compare CA15-3 and Ki67 levels in type 2 diabetes patients with breast cancer with those in breast cancer patients without diabetes and the impact of hyperglycemia on tumor markers.
