Master’s Discussion

The College of Science for women at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entitled (Estimation of Angiopoietin-like Protein 3 Level and Some Relevant Biochemical Factors in Iraqi Patients with Diabetic Nephropathy as Early Diagnostic Markers(By the student: Hiba Haqi Ismael

Objectives of the Thesis
    1. To estimation of Angiopoietin-like Protein 3 Level in Iraqi Patients with Diabetic Nephropathy, in all the studied groups.
    2. To investigating the level of Fibroblast growth factor23 (FGF-23) as related factor of renal damage, in all the studied groups.
    3. To measuring the activity of the Fetuin-A in serum, in all the studied groups.
    4. To measuring the activity of the Matrix metalloproteinase 10 (MMP-10) enzyme in serum, in all the studied groups.
    5. To conducting a correlation study between each of the measured factors and the other factors included in the study to determine the type of relationship or lack thereof.
    6. The study and Roc analysis data show that any one of the factors that were measured can be used as an early sign to diagnose diabetic nephropathy and start treating it before it gets worse.

Other parameters, such as HbA1C, Urea, Creatinine, Uric acid, eGFR , Lipid Profile ,Albumin to Creatinine Ratio (ACR),, were also measured in both the patient and healthy control groups.

Content of the Thesis
  1. This study, which was conducted at the University of Baghdad / College of Science for Women / Department of Chemistry and Medical City / Baghdad Teaching Hospital, Iraq, between August to December 2024.  Levels of ANGPTL3, FGF-23, MMP-10, and Fetuin-A measured using ELISA via the Human Reader HS device, Microalbumin and creatinine in urine were estimated using FUS 3000 urine analysis strips, and HbA1c was measured using an I-chroma device.
Recommendation of the Thesis
  1. Estimating the parameter, ANGPTL3, FGF-23, MMP-10, and Fetuin-A levels in other diabetic complications diseases.
  2. Determining the level of these parameters, ANGPTL3, FGF-23, MMP-10, and Fetuin-A in patients with other disease.
  3.  Estimating diabetic nephropathy using other parameters.
  4.  Estimating these parameter according to sex (male – female).
  5. Study the gene expression of these parameter in type II diabetic with complication.
