Thesis Discussion
: The College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis entitled “Evaluation the Activity of Green Synthesized Chitosan Nanoparticles of Punica granatum Peel Extract Against MDR Klebsiella Pneumoniae in Baghdad City” By Roula Qais Zaki in Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master in Biology/Microbiology Supervised by Assist.Prof.Dr.Rana Ali Hasan .
The thesis focused on evaluating the effect of nanoparticles from Punnica granatum peel extract against multidrug-resistant bacteria isolated from burns and wounds. The study aimed to compare the effects of antibiotics and nanoparticles from Punnica granatum peel extract on highly resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria.
The results showed that chitosan nanoparticles loaded with pomegranate extract exhibited antibacterial activity against antibiotic-resistant strains of K.pneumoniae
: The thesis included a study of multi-antibiotic-resistant bacteria, biofilm formation, and the effect of nanoparticles of pomegranate peel extract on bacteria and biofilm formation.
The study recommended the need to conduct future complementary genetic and medical research, such as medical applications in manufacturing medical catheters and respirators from this nanomaterial to prevent the spread of infection in hospitals.
Final Grade: Excellent.
