Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit organized a training course entitled “Computer Skills for Beginners: Ready for the Job Market.” The course was delivered by Dr. Rajaa Muraij, Ms. Israa Majid, and Assistant Programmer Ghada Mahdi.

The course aimed to introduce the fundamental components of Microsoft Word and its essential tools for professional text preparation and editing. Participants learned how to format documents, insert tables, images, headings, and indexes, as well as how to save and share files in alignment with administrative and institutional work requirements.

The program also covered Microsoft Excel, which is considered a vital tool in office and statistical tasks. Participants were introduced to the main interface of the program and learned how to create tables, perform basic calculations, and use essential functions such as addition, subtraction, averaging, and calculating percentages. In addition, they were trained on sorting and filtering tools, and how to design charts.

The third segment of the course was dedicated to Microsoft PowerPoint, where its capabilities in creating professional presentations were explored. Participants learned how to design engaging slides and insert images, texts, videos, and visual effects. They also acquired presentation techniques and effective delivery skills necessary for any employee or student presenting a project or idea before an audience or evaluation committee.

The course adopted an interactive, hands-on training approach, allowing participants to immediately apply what they learned, thereby enhancing their understanding and confidence in using these programs.

This course is part of the unit’s ongoing efforts to equip students and graduates with essential computer and office application skills, which have become indispensable across various fields of work and study. The course targeted beginner-level students and graduates aspiring to enter the job market with confidence and digital competence. The training program was designed in a simplified yet comprehensive manner to ensure participants’ understanding of the most important programs and applications.
