Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College, the College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad organized a sports marathon under the slogan “No to Violence,” in collaboration with the Student Activities Division at the University. This event coincided with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of combating all forms of violence.
The marathon was attended by Dr. Yousra Abdul-Sahib, Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Ali Sadiq, Head of the Student Activities Division at the University of Baghdad, as well as a number of faculty members, staff, and students from the college. The event also featured the participation of the “Nakhla Watan” women’s cycling team, adding a distinctive sports element to the occasion.
The marathon aimed to promote health awareness and encourage physical activity among students, as well as enhance the spirit of community participation and social interaction in a safe and healthy environment. The event emphasized the importance of sports as a means to promote a healthy lifestyle and combat violence through the dissemination of values of peace and tolerance.
The participants showed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the marathon, expressing their happiness in taking part in this event. The attendees praised the excellent organization of the event, which combined entertainment and physical activity in a positive atmosphere. Participants also affirmed that such activities contribute to raising awareness about sports and health, encouraging regular physical activity, which has a positive impact on overall health and the university community
