Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Student Activities Unit organized a workshop entitled “Physical and Psychological Preparation and Guidelines for the Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him)”. The workshop was presented by Ms. Ghufran Zaid Aziz and Ms. Alq Hussein, in the presence of the Dean and a number of the College’s faculty members and staff.
The workshop addressed the importance of intellectual preparation for the Arbaeen pilgrimage by understanding its humanitarian and cultural dimensions. The occasion represents a renewal of one’s commitment to and adherence to the values of truth, justice, and freedom for which Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) sacrificed his life. The workshop also emphasized the importance of demonstrating patience and tolerance and avoiding disputes and disagreements among pilgrims, thereby contributing to the promotion of unity and harmony.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of psychological preparation in fostering positive behavior among pilgrims, enabling them to serve as role models in promoting love, peace, and cooperation with others. In addition, emphasis was placed on physical preparation, including gradual walking exercises prior to the pilgrimage, maintaining overall health, following a healthy diet, and wearing appropriate footwear to prevent fatigue and injuries during the journey.
The workshop further included a number of general guidelines that pilgrims are encouraged to observe, most notably maintaining public cleanliness, complying with health and organizational instructions, respecting others, and benefiting from the experiences of previous pilgrims. These measures contribute to ensuring that the pilgrimage is undertaken in an informed, organized, and responsible manner.
The workshop concluded by emphasizing the significance of this great occasion in reinforcing noble humanitarian values and the importance of conscious and appropriate preparation for participation, in a manner that reflects a dignified and civilized image of the pilgrims.
