Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, and as part of the College’s ongoing efforts to organize and develop document management and strengthen the principles of good governance, an important coordination meeting was held between Assistant Professor Dr. Hisham Abdul Munaf Atta, Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, and Assistant Professor Dr. Taysir Fawzi Radif, Secretary-General of the Central Library and Chair of the Central Committee for Document Disposal at the University of Baghdad.
The meeting aimed to establish comprehensive working mechanisms for forming a specialized committee responsible for overseeing the secure disposal of quality assurance documents whose legally prescribed retention periods have expired. This process is intended to comply with the approved regulations and guidelines of the University of Baghdad while ensuring the highest levels of protection and confidentiality for sensitive data and information relating to the College’s personnel and the administrative operations of its scientific departments.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of strict adherence to official protocols governing document disposal processes. Such compliance contributes to strengthening institutional trust and safeguarding strategic information, while also supporting an organized and secure administrative environment based on transparency and professionalism.
In the same context, emphasis was placed on adopting the procedures approved by the University, which include transferring documents that are no longer required to the Ministry of Industry and Minerals for recycling. This step reflects the institutional commitment to rationalizing the use of resources and reducing waste, thereby contributing to environmental protection and promoting the principles of sustainability.
This initiative represents an advanced model for developing administrative procedures and aligning them with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, through effective waste management and recycling; Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, through compliance with laws and regulations and the protection of data; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which highlights the importance of institutional partnerships through productive cooperation between the University of Baghdad and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals to achieve sustainable and effective outcomes.
