Continuing Education organizes a workshop entitled The Role of Universities in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals Under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Science for Girls, Prof. Dr. Samira Naji Kazim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Life Sciences, held a workshop entitled (The Role of Universities in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals) presented by the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs Assoc. Prof. Adel Hussein Talib, Assoc. Prof. Salah Khairy Jaber, On Al-Hakim Hall in the presence of a number of teachers and faculty members.
The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of sustainable development, which is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising on the ability of future generations to meet their needs, and the goals of sustainable development are to preserve the characteristics of renewable natural resource management to achieve a better quality of life for the inhabitants of the earth by improving living conditions and taking into account the efficiency of distributing the returns of economic growth according to high-quality investment patterns without damage and disturbing the environmental balance and maintaining the continuity of natural resources, and the workshop touched on the dimensions of sustainable development such as the dimension Economic, social, environmental, institutional, technical and the role of education in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
Universities occupy a unique and prestigious position in achieving these goals, as they are the main institutions concerned with the production of scientific and technological knowledge and social services, through the production of scientific research, knowledge and new innovations, supporting the category of creative young people, creating a suitable environment for teamwork, and providing all the necessary requirements to keep pace with development and face global challenges.
