Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Salah Khairi, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, the College of Science for Women carried out a cleaning and rehabilitation campaign for the front courtyard of the College’s new building – Phase II, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the university environment and enhance the overall appearance of the campus.
The campaign included the removal of weeds and overgrown vegetation, cleaning the courtyard, and reorganizing and rehabilitating the area in a manner that contributes to providing a clean, safe, and more aesthetically pleasing university environment for female students and staff. The initiative also reflects the College’s commitment to preserving its facilities and maintaining their aesthetic appeal.
The work was carried out by the Follow-up Division in coordination with the Construction and Projects Unit at the College of Science for Women. The machinery and equipment belonging to the Presidency of the University of Baghdad were utilized, with the University providing the necessary support to complete the work efficiently and promptly. This reflects the collaborative efforts between the University Presidency and its colleges in maintaining and developing the university campus.
The implementation of this campaign is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by contributing to the provision of a clean, safe, and sustainable university environment. It also supports Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being through promoting public cleanliness and reducing potential sources of pollution, thereby providing a healthy and conducive environment for learning and work.
The College Deanship reaffirmed its commitment to continuing environmental and service-oriented initiatives that contribute to promoting a culture of preserving public property and enhancing the quality of the university environment, in alignment with the University of Baghdad’s vision of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
