Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics, organized a workshop entitled “The Role of Mathematics in Decision-Making.” The workshop was presented by Ms. Aseel Hussein Ali, Ms. Shireen Awda Dakheel, and Ms. Taghreed Hussein Abd. It was held in Abdul Hakim Hall and attended by a number of faculty members and staff.

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of mathematics and its vital role in supporting decision-making processes across various scientific, administrative, and economic fields. This is achieved through the application of mathematical methods and logical analysis to examine problems and develop appropriate solutions in an accurate and objective manner.

The workshop also demonstrated that mathematical reasoning and logical analytical skills contribute to enhancing individuals’ abilities to solve problems and make sound decisions in professional and academic contexts. In addition, these skills foster critical and creative thinking, thereby contributing to the development of individuals capable of addressing diverse challenges through a scientific and systematic approach.

This activity is aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4, which focuses on quality education; SDG 9, concerning industry, innovation, and infrastructure; and SDG 8, relating to decent work and economic growth.
