Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry, organized a workshop entitled “Fundamentals of Success.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Mahasin Faisal Elias, Dr. Sahar Sabih Hassan, and Dr. Suad Abd Musa. It was held in the Abdul Hakim Hall and attended by a number of faculty members and staff.
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of success and the fundamental factors that contribute to achieving it across various scientific, professional, and personal aspects of life. It also addressed the key characteristics of successful individuals and the essential qualities that contribute to developing a personality capable of confronting challenges and achieving goals. Furthermore, the workshop discussed the significance of success as a factor that provides individuals with a clear sense of purpose in life, motivates them to pursue their goals and aspirations, enhances self-confidence and self-esteem, and contributes to personal and professional stability. It also emphasized the role of success in serving society, contributing to its development, and opening new horizons for continuous growth and advancement.
The workshop explained that the fundamentals of success can be divided into two categories. The first consists of internal factors, which account for 80% and include having a clear sense of purpose, a genuine desire for success, focus, and commitment. The second consists of external factors, which account for 20% and include developing appropriate plans for achieving success, proper implementation, continuous evaluation, and effective follow-up.
The workshop also addressed the fundamentals of professional success and success in various areas of life, emphasizing that ambition, enthusiasm, sound planning, and positive thinking constitute the foundation of success. It further highlighted the importance of continuous learning, skills development, effective time management, communication skills, teamwork, and taking responsibility. In addition, the workshop discussed the four stages of achieving success: decision-making, taking action, monitoring and observation, and finally change and development in order to achieve the desired outcomes.
It is worth noting that this workshop is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4, which focuses on quality education; Goal 8, concerning decent work and economic growth; Goal 3, relating to good health and well-being; and Goal 9, which promotes innovation and capacity building. These concepts play a significant role in preparing individuals who are capable of creativity, contributing to sustainable development, and building a more aware and productive society.
