College of Science for Women / University of Baghdad examined the thesis entitled (Role of dissolved organic carbon inputs in enhancing phytoplankton growth tolerance to warming and pH shifts in a freshwater ecosystem) of the student (Ru’aa Abass Lafta)
Objectives of the Thesis
- The thesis aims to determine the role of DOC inputs in enhancing phytoplankton growth under warming and pH shifts.

Recommendation of the Thesis
- The most important recommendations which the study has come up with and the average obtained.
- Investigating the impact of the changes in the phytoplankton community from diatom to cyanobacteria on the zooplankton that depend on them as a primary food source, and the extent of this impact on the aquatic food web.
- Testing different sources and concentrations of DOC, such as naturally occurring plant extracts, to determine which provides the best support for biomass under warming.
- Enhancing of the role of DOC in microbial communities and zooplankton growth under ongoing warming
- Monitoring of organic pollution sources and DOC flows into water bodies, especially during high temperatures, to combat harmful algal blooms under ongoing climate change
