Under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, a workshop entitled “Women and Technology: Economic Opportunities in the Digital Age” was delivered by skills and behavior modification trainer and family and psychological consultant Rasha Hussein Al-Jubouri. The workshop was organized by the Women’s Affairs Unit as part of the activities approved by the Department of Women’s Affairs, with the aim of highlighting the role of women in keeping pace with digital transformation and leveraging modern technology to develop personal and professional capacities and enhance economic independence.
The workshop addressed the significance of technology in empowering women to enter digital labor markets and content creation fields, with a focus on how to utilize online platforms to build a conscious digital identity and produce purposeful content that reflects a positive professional image. It also discussed key psychological and social challenges associated with the use of social media and explored balanced approaches to managing these challenges in a way that maximizes benefits while minimizing negative impacts.
Furthermore, the workshop introduced several software applications and digital platforms commonly used by content creators, including Canva for visual content design and Instagram for content dissemination, audience engagement, and reach. Emphasis was placed on the optimal use of these tools to develop digital skills and open new horizons for economic opportunities within the framework of online work.
The workshop concluded by underscoring the importance of organizing such awareness-raising activities in enhancing women’s digital literacy and developing their technical and behavioral skills, thereby enabling them to keep pace with the demands of the digital era and achieve the workshop’s objectives of supporting women and strengthening their active role in society.
