Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Quality Assurance Division, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, organized a three-day awareness and training course entitled “The Safety Triangle.” The course aimed to promote a culture of safety and prevention and enhance preparedness for responding effectively to emergencies and crises.

On the first day, a lecture was presented by Dr. Jawan Khalid Hamoud, Head of the Quality Assurance Division, in collaboration with Ms. Doaa Ali Abdul Hussein from the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit. The lecture addressed psychological support during crises and was accompanied by interactive competitions and an activity involving the design of awareness posters on safety and prevention.

The second day featured a presentation on civil defense instructions, including the different types of fire extinguishers and the proper methods of using them, in cooperation with Mr. Wissam Khalil, Head of the College’s Follow-up Division.

On the third day, the course hosted Mr. Haider Ahmed Al-Nouri, a first-aid trainer at the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, who provided practical training on first aid and appropriate responses to cases involving burns, wounds, choking, electrical injuries, epileptic seizures, and loss of consciousness.

At the conclusion of the course, certificates of appreciation were presented to the participants from the Iraqi Red Crescent Society. The College Deanship also honored the training team in recognition of their efforts and active participation.

The organizers expressed their appreciation to Ms. Alaa Talib, Head of the Library, for hosting the course activities in the Reading Hall. The event concluded with commemorative photographs of the participants and organizers.

The course forms part of the College’s ongoing commitment to fostering a safe university environment and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Good Health and Well-Being, Quality Education, and Sustainable Cities and Communities.
