Under the patronage of Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, organized a course titled “How to Write Research Sources Using Mendeley.” The course was presented by Prof. Dr. Layla Othman Farhan, Assist. Prof. Dr. Noor al-Huda Ghazi Mohammad, and Assist. Lecturer Samara Ali Matar.
The course aimed to introduce Mendeley, one of the most popular software tools used for managing references and organizing research sources across various academic disciplines. This software offers many advantages that make it easier for researchers to organize their references in a systematic and efficient manner. It also accelerates the process of writing sources and citations within research texts, in accordance with various academic standards.
The course began with an introduction to the basics of the program, including how to download and install it on different computers. It also covered creating an account on the website and adding research sources either manually or automatically. In addition, the course demonstrated how to download articles and research books from academic databases such as Google Scholar and Journals, and how to use these references in research. The available options within the program were also reviewed, such as adding bibliographic data, including authors, research title, year, publisher, and other details that ensure the accuracy and reliability of references.
The workshop also addressed how to organize references within the Mendeley digital library, which helps in classifying and organizing sources according to academic and research needs.
