Under the patronage of Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women , the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, organized a workshop titled “First Aid for Laboratory Accidents.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Nafisa Jabar Kazem, Mrs.Iman Adnan Mohammed, and Mrs. Rukia Hashim Abdul Ghani.
The workshop aimed to highlight the preventive measures required in a laboratory environment and the importance of strict adherence to these measures to ensure the safety of workers and students when handling chemicals and hazardous materials. It also provided the necessary guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries, such as wearing personal protective equipment like gloves and safety glasses and ensuring proper laboratory ventilation. Additionally, it emphasized the importance of having emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits, in easily accessible locations, and following chemical storage guidelines according to their hazards.
