Under the patronage of Dr.Sameera Naji Kahdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held a workshop titled “The Importance of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) Applications in Training and Professional Development.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Yuosra Abdul-Sahib, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students, and Mr. Zaid Ziad Adnan.
The workshop aimed to introduce the concepts of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) as powerful and advanced technologies that have spread from electronic gaming into various fields, including education, training, and entertainment. These technologies provide interactive experiences that represent educational concepts in a tangible and understandable way for students, encouraging them to actively engage in the learning process by interacting directly with the content. The workshop also highlighted the potential of VR and AR in providing a safe learning environment for training in hazardous skills, enhancing medical training through virtual environments for surgical procedures, and using VR and AR applications in recreational activities such as virtual tourism tours and attendance at cultural and artistic events in an innovative and enjoyable way
