Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Kahdim, the Computer Science Department organized the Global Programmer Festival on the occasion of International Programmer’s Day in the conference hall on Tuesday, October 16, 2024. The event was attended by the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Yousra Abdul Sahib, and the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Adel Hussein Talib, along with several faculty members, staff, and students of the college.
The festival began with recitations from the Holy Quran, followed by a reading of Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs, and the playing of the national anthem. The event was opened with speeches by the Dean and the Head of the Computer Science Department, Dr. Naima Anad Kahdim. They emphasized the role of modern technology, its advanced applications, and its importance in shaping the future amidst the digital revolution, which has become the core and driver of modern life. They also highlighted the necessity of learning programming skills, artificial intelligence, robotics, cloud computing, and enhancing problem-solving and idea development skills.
The speeches also addressed the challenges programmers face, such as rapid technological advancement and intense competition. Everyone acknowledged the importance of these technologies in securing job opportunities across various fields. The event concluded with a presentation of distinguished student projects, including programs and applications based on programming and artificial intelligence, aimed at serving various sectors of the workforce
