The master’s thesis, ” Synthesis and Study the Application of Some New Metal Complexes with Schiff Bases Derived from Hydrazine ” was the topic of discussion at the College of Science for Girls at the University of Baghdad.

Student: Zahra Mounir Ahmed

The thesis’s goal is to involves the synthesize and characterization of (8)   new complexes of some first series transitional metals Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) as well as Zn(II)  with (2) new Schiff’s Base ligands Derived from of Hydrazine. The bacterial efficacy of the prepared compounds as well as their use as antioxidants were studied.

The study was done at the University of Baghdad’s College of Science for Women’s Chemistry Department in the laboratories of the College of Science for Women’s. The prepared complexes were characterized by melting point  spectral methods (IR,UV-Vis), magnetic susceptibility measurement , molar conductivity measurements, metal content , the chloride percentage of chloride in the complexes, elemental analysis for (C.H.N.), also the mass measurement Nuclear Magnetic Resonance for (1H.NMR) for the prepared Ligand, and The bacterial efficacy of the prepared compounds as well as their use as antioxidants were studied.

The letter makes the following key recommendations:

  1.  Studying the effectiveness of these compounds prepared as antioxidants and anticancer.
  2.  Replacing the metal ions used in this research with new metal ions such as group elements (F) to form complexes with the same ligand prepared in our study.
  3. The possibility of using the Schiff base rules LH, LH2 and their complexes in the pharmaceutical industry and antibiotics due to their ability to inhibit bacterial growth.
