The Mathematics Department celebrates the World Pi Day under the patronage of Dr. Sameera Naji Kahdim, the Dean of the College of Science for Women. The event began with verses from the Quran followed by the national anthem and a reading of Al-Fatiha for the souls of Iraq and Palestine’s martyrs. Assistant Professor Haider Majid Abbas, the head of the Mathematics Department, delivered a speech introducing Pi historically and scientifically, highlighting its applications across various fields of mathematics, physics, engineering, and astronomy. Several professors and distinguished students were honored during the festival, which also featured artistic and cultural activities, including an exhibition of students’ artistic creations like oil paintings, handicrafts, and wood engravings.
