Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Kdhim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Biology, organized a workshop entitled “Promoting a Culture of Human Rights in Society.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Salah Khairi Jaber, Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, and Dr. Adel Hussein Talib.

The workshop aimed to highlight the intellectual and legal frameworks that safeguard human dignity and enhance collective awareness of fundamental rights and responsibilities. It also focused on clarifying the mechanisms through which a culture of human rights can be integrated into the social fabric to foster an environment characterized by justice, equality, and mutual respect.

Furthermore, the workshop emphasized the importance of empowering individuals to understand their active role in building a democratic society that upholds public freedoms and promotes respect for human rights. The discussions underscored the significance of fostering awareness and civic engagement as essential components of social development and community cohesion.

This workshop contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), which seeks to promote peaceful and inclusive societies, ensure access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.
