Under the patronage of the  Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Biology , organized a scientific workshop entitled “Biodiversity from an Animal Perspective and Its Impact on Ecological Balance.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Basma Ali Jasim.

The workshop addressed the concept of biodiversity and its importance in maintaining the stability of ecosystems, with particular emphasis on the role of animals in preserving biodiversity through their ecological interactions, such as predation, mutualism, and competition, as well as their role in regulating the populations of other living organisms.

The presenter also discussed the impact of environmental changes and human activities on biodiversity and the resulting disturbances to ecological balance. Furthermore, the workshop highlighted the importance of protecting wildlife and conserving natural habitats to ensure the sustainability of ecosystems.

The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of developing the skills and expertise of students and researchers in the field of biodiversity, as well as its significant role in supporting scientific research and enhancing the quality of scientific studies.
