Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Biology, organized a workshop entitled “Essential Skills Required for Researchers in Preparing Scientific Research.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Fikrat Majeed Hassan and Dr. Hala Haitham Mohammed Ali. It was held in Al-Hakeem Hall, with the attendance of a number of faculty members and staff.
The workshop addressed several key themes, focusing on the fundamental competencies that a researcher should possess when embarking on the preparation of a scientific study. These included selecting an appropriate research title, formulating a clear research problem, and acquiring skills in data collection and analysis using rigorous scientific methods. The workshop also emphasized the importance of writing research in a structured academic style that aligns with international standards.
Furthermore, the workshop highlighted the significance of academic integrity, proper citation of sources, and the necessity of avoiding plagiarism. It also underscored the importance of developing critical thinking skills and the ability to discuss findings and relate them accurately to previous studies. In addition, attention was given to the role of effective planning and time management in completing research efficiently.
The workshop witnessed notable engagement from the attendees, with numerous questions and inquiries that were addressed by the presenters.
