Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry, organized a workshop entitled “The Impact of Medicinal Plants on Enhancing Immunity.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Sana Tariq Sarhan, Dr. Enas Abdul Hussein, and Dr. Ameera Hassan Hamad. It was held in the College Guest Hall on Monday, 30/3/2026, with the attendance of a number of faculty members, staff, and female students.

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of medicinal plants and their effective role in strengthening the immune system, as well as to introduce the active compounds they contain, which contribute to the prevention of numerous diseases.

The workshop covered several key themes, including an introduction to medicinal plants and their significance in alternative medicine, along with an overview of their most prominent types and therapeutic uses. It also provided an explanation of the active chemical compounds present in these plants and the mechanisms through which they enhance immune function. In addition, practical applications of medicinal plant use and methods for their safe and appropriate utilization were discussed.

The workshop witnessed notable engagement from the attendees, and the organizers emphasized the importance of raising awareness regarding the optimal use of medicinal plants.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the organizers recommended promoting health awareness within the community and encouraging scientific research in the field of medicinal plants, given their significant role in supporting human health and preventing diseases.
