Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khidm, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Alternative Medicine and Herbal Therapy.” The workshop was presented by Ms. Wisn Abdul Razzaq Mahmoud,  Dr. Zainab Hussein Fadil, and Ms. Iftikhar Ahmed Hussein.

The workshop focused on the concepts of alternative medicine and its importance in promoting public health and preventing diseases. It highlighted the use of medicinal herbs as natural therapeutic agents, emphasizing their safety when applied according to sound scientific principles. The workshop included a detailed explanation of various types of herbs, their therapeutic benefits, optimal methods of use, and recommended dosages to avoid potential side effects. It also addressed several practical applications of herbal therapy in common health conditions.

Furthermore, the presenters reviewed recent studies supporting the efficacy of medicinal herbs and discussed potential challenges and risks associated with their use. They also provided guidance on how to integrate alternative medicine with conventional treatments in a scientifically grounded manner.
