Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khidm, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, organized a scientific workshop entitled “The Importance of Modeling in Life, Its Necessity, and Its Applications.” The workshop was presented by Ms. Zeina Khalid Mahmoud, Ms. Zainab Saeed Abbas, and Dr. Enas Mustafa Kamil.
The workshop addressed the concept of modeling as a fundamental scientific tool used to represent and analyze real-world phenomena through mathematical and logical approaches. This contributes to a deeper understanding of complex problems and facilitates the development of accurate solutions. It also reviewed major areas of modeling applications in daily life, ranging from natural and engineering sciences to economics, medicine, and environmental studies, with particular emphasis on its role in prediction, decision-making, and improving the efficiency of various systems.
Furthermore, the workshop highlighted the importance of acquiring modeling skills for students and researchers, given their role in developing analytical thinking and enhancing the ability to integrate theoretical and practical aspects. The workshop concluded by emphasizing the significance of advancing modeling competencies among students and researchers, as well as their role in supporting scientific research and improving the quality of academic studies.
