Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim , the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Jalal Hatem Hussein, Ms. Intisar Haitham Qasim, and Ms. Dhikra Abdul Latif Ibrahim.

The workshop addressed the close relationship between mathematics and artificial intelligence technologies, emphasizing that mathematics constitutes the theoretical foundation upon which machine learning algorithms and data analysis are based. The presenters reviewed the most important mathematical concepts used in the development of artificial intelligence systems, such as linear algebra, probability, and statistics, and highlighted their role in building intelligent models capable of processing data and making decisions.

The workshop also discussed modern applications of artificial intelligence in various scientific and technological fields, illustrating how mathematical foundations contribute to improving the accuracy of algorithms and enhancing intelligent systems used in areas such as education, medicine, and data analysis.

The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of developing students’ and researchers’ skills in mathematics and artificial intelligence, and their role in supporting scientific research, keeping pace with modern technological developments, and enhancing students’ abilities to deal with advanced technologies.
