A training course organized by the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, on the skills of the psychological counselor, under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim . The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, held a training course on psychological counseling skills. The course comprised three main sessions: the first session was presented by Dr. Siham Mutasher Al-Kaabi and Mr. Saad Hassan Hamoud; the second session was presented by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abbas Mohammed; and the third session was presented by Mr. Hamdiya Khudair Al-Jourani.
The first session, entitled “Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance: Concepts and Methods”
, addressed the concept of psychological counseling and ways of dealing with psychological problems with awareness and expertise within the institution, while adhering to standards and adopting effective approaches to problem-solving, as well as providing psychological support and counseling in the university environment. The second session, entitled “Core Skills of the Psychological Counselor”, highlighted the most important skills required of a successful psychological counselor, including interpersonal skills, administrative and organizational skills, logical analysis skills, and continuous professional development. Emphasis was placed on the importance of accuracy, maintaining the confidentiality of counselees, and building their trust in order to address the problems they face and to provide appropriate support.
