dissertation Discussion
: College of Science for Women / University of Baghdad examined the dissertation entitled (Histological and molecular Evaluation of Some Interleukins and Tissue Remodeling Factors in the placenta from Iraqi women with spontaneous miscarriage) of the student Russul Hameed Hassan.
: The dissertation aims to identify and analyze the predictive factors that may be associated with unexplained spontaneous miscarriage regarding the following:
- Evaluate the levels of βhCG, E2, and P4 in the blood of women with spontaneous miscarriage.
- Study the histopathological changes in the placenta of miscarriage.
- Determine the gene expression of IL-15 and IL-22 in the blood and placenta.
- Evaluate the immunohistochemical staining of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in the placenta.
The dissertation also includes a histochemical study of the placenta using Masson trichrome stain to determine the pathologic disorder called fibrosis, as well as studying the correlation among hormones, interleukins, and matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9.
: The most important recommendations which the study has come up with:
- Study the serum levels and expression of IL4 and IL10 in the placenta, which are important to curtail maternal inflammation and allow crosstalk between the placental decidua and the invading fetal trophoblast at different stages of pregnancy.
- Study the localization and expression of decidual natural killer cells in the placenta of miscarriage.
- Parental karyotyping for balanced translocation or other chromosomal abnormalities in one or both parents.
- Evaluate the levels of human placental lactogen hormone and placental growth hormone in miscarriage.
