Under the patronage of Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, held a workshop titled “Healthy Nutrition” in the department’s hall. The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Israa Abbas Ibrahim, Assistant Lecturer Iman Abdul Hadi Dari, and Lecturer Heba Awad Abdul Razzaq, and was attended by a number of faculty members and students.
The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness about the importance of healthy food and to explain its impact on our daily lives. It emphasized the need for a healthy and balanced diet to enjoy good health. This diet includes consuming vegetables, fruits, and meats in quantities suitable for a person’s age and daily activities.
The lecturers explained the importance of vegetables and fruits and their effect on the body, as they contain vitamins and nutrients that enhance the body’s energy, focus, and performance in daily activities. The workshop also touched on the importance of physical activity alongside proper diets for all ages, as it stimulates blood circulation.
The lecturers emphasized that the amount of food consumed has a significant impact on weight. Consuming foods rich in sweets and fats with little physical activity causes many diseases, the most notable being obesity, which is a major problem in many societies worldwide, especially among the youth.
The workshop included discussions and inquiries, which were answered by the lecturers.
