Postgraduate studies in the scientific departments began in 1993-1994 when it was part of the College of Education for Women and continued when the college was split, and the scientific departments were included in the College of Science for Women. The admission mechanism for postgraduate studies (master’s and doctorate) in our college is based on the instructions and admission regulations issued by the university presidency – postgraduate studies annually.
The college seeks to raise the level of postgraduate studies and scientific research by providing the requirements and cooperating with scientific institutions in other ministries to address the challenges facing our country according to scientific foundations.
The college has provided suitable classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards and rooms equipped with computers and Internet lines in each scientific department. It has also provided a library used by lecturers and graduate and undergraduate students, in addition to providing the Internet service (Wireless) that covers the area of the college and is available to college members and graduate students using their personal computers.
The departments (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) award Master’s and Doctorate degrees, and the Department of Mathematics awards Master’s degrees. Applications are limited to females only, and the study system is the two-semester system in the academic year.
Admission to postgraduate studies was without specialization for the years 2002 to 2005, as female students were distributed among scientific specializations in the second semester of the preparatory year. Admission continued according to this system until the academic year 2005-2006, when female students were accepted according to the specializations open in the scientific departments, as follows:
Biology Department | Chemistry Department | Physics Department | Mathematics Department |
---|---|---|---|
Botany | Organic Chemistry | Laser and Optics Physics | Pure Mathematics |
Zoology | Inorganic Chemistry | Nuclear and Environmental Physics | Applied Mathematics |
Microbiology | Biochemistry | Theoretical and Molecular Physics | |
Genetics | Industrial Chemistry | Solid State and Materials Physics | |
Ecology | Analytical Chemistry |
The graduate is awarded a Master of Science degree as well as a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the specializations prescribed in the departments (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics) as follows:
A- Department of Biology: (Botany, Microbiology, Genetics, Zoology, Ecology)
B- Department of Chemistry: (Organic, Inorganic, Analytical, Biological, Physical, Industrial)
C- Department of Physics: (Laser and Optics, Nuclear and Environmental, Theoretical and Molecular, Solid State and Materials, and Physics)
C- Department of Mathematics: (Pure, Applied).
– There is a specialized administrative division that organizes application, and acceptance forms and follows up on the affairs of female students during the study and research phase and grants documents to graduates.
