The Department of Chemistry was established in 1984 as one of the departments of the College of Education for Women and in 2002 the College of Education was separated into both the College of Education for Women, which includes the humanities departments, and the College of Science for Women, which includes the scientific departments, including the Department of Chemistry / morning study, and the evening study began in 1996. Postgraduate studies in the department began in 1994. The Department of Chemistry started the semester system since 2010 for the three grades (first, second and third), after graduating two courses, after which the curriculum system will be applied according to the college plan. In 2011/2012, the department adopted a new strategy to graduate students in the disciplines of environment, biochemistry and polymer studying their curricula in the third and fourth stages.
Our Mission
The department seeks to achieve the requirements of quality and university accreditation and provide an enabling and safe environment for female students, the mission of the department in completing these programs is by providing educational opportunities for theoretical classes associated with integrated scientific laboratories and experiments equipped with modern means and equipment, diagnostic and analysis devices and computers, as well as research programs and seminars. This message is implemented through participation and encouragement between the faculty and students within the general line of the Deanship of the College under the slogan “The best department with the best quality”.

Work to serve the community through scientific handling of issues raised by state institutions in the public and private sectors.
Studies Program
Why Study Chemistry?
Chemistry ranges from the study of the structure of atoms and molecules to that of the reactions occurring in living organisms. The study of chemistry can provide knowledge that will give students a greater understanding and appreciation of the world in which they live. In addition, knowledge of chemistry is a great asset in areas such as biology, physics, and health-related fields.
The Department of Chemistry grands a B.S. degree in chemistry after fulfilment of (148) credit scores over a period of four years study.
The Chemistry Masters program will teach you how to bring your training and skillsets into the job market or prepare you for starting a Ph.D. in Chemistry.
The Doctoral program in chemistry will extend your skillset through participation in cutting-edge and highly interdisciplinary chemical research.
