The workshop aimed to educate attendees about depression, focusing on its causes, including genetic, biological, and environmental factors, as well as psychological and social pressures that can exacerbate the condition.  The workshop also addressed the different symptoms that individuals suffering from depression may experience, such as feelings of loneliness, deep sadness, loss of interest in daily activities, changes in weight and sleep patterns, as well as persistent feelings of guilt and helplessness. Additionally, the workshop covered various types of depression, such as acute and chronic depression, and discussed related disorders, including emotional and psychological disturbances.
At the workshop’s conclusion, several depression treatment methods were proposed, including psychological treatments like cognitive-behavioral therapy and pharmacological treatments using antidepressants. The importance of psychological, familial, and social support, along with lifestyle changes and engaging in physical activities, was emphasized as part of an integrated treatment plan.
